George Webbs (Oakland Ave, Milwaukee)
I've tried this place a couple times late at night after concerts or parties. It's really just the average diner, so whatever, but it's cheap and open 24 hours. The staff can be friendly, especially this really big girl, she was so funny! But other than her they are the typical uninterested diner waitress. The breakfast is pretty good and it's definitely cheap. All of their specials for breakfast are a good deal. The chicken tenders are nothing special, I watched her take them from freezer to deep fryer...but if you're hungry and a poor college kid, why not? But don't get the cheese curds! They're like, $3.99 or something and you only get like 5 it seems like! Definitely a rip off, don't be fooled. Other than that, it's okay.
II-Sweet International Delights (Locust Ave, Milwaukee)
I've never eaten here, but I definitely recommend it as a hookah bar. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially if it's your first time! They have plenty of flavors and you can even mix. It's $17 for one hookah, which is usually all you need for 4 or less people. They also have a wide variety of hookahs for sale and shisha. The food available seems to be like bar food, burgers and fries and such. They also have smoothies and I really like that all the sodas are in bottles! Even the old-time Pepsi bottles, which you never see! I would definitely recommend it.
Berry Me (Brady Street, Milwaukee)
Stopped here after a long walk in the east side neighborhood on a hot day. It was awesome. I love the set up of the place! You walk in, get your own frozen yogurt from the dispensers on the wall & then add any of your own toppings. You pay by weight! When I went, I had low fat chocolate and low fat banana flavors mixed together :). To my understanding, the flavors rotate weekly or something. I got chocolate chips and strawberries on top. Mine cost somewhere around 4 or 5 dollars. It was totally worth it! I would definitely recommend this as a great alternative to something like Coldstone. It still tastes great, but it's a little healthier and you get even more freedom to choose your toppings and flavors. The staff was also friendly & helped us since we didn't understand how it worked at first! Check this place out! A great addition to Brady street.
Pizza Shuttle (Farwell Ave, Milwaukee)
I remember being really, really hungry. I probably ordered more than I should have. I got the jalapeno poppers and my favorite pizza toppings, pepperoni, green pepper, and pineapple on a personal size pizza with a hand tossed crust. The food was great. The toppings were fresh and there were a lot of them. The popper were just average, but still good. Even though it was a personal size pizza, I still had some to take home. I like the atmosphere and that there were college kids, families, and guys in suits all enjoying the food. They have some really great deals if you come in groups, like a large pizza & sodas for kid.s with college id's i think is somewhere around 10 or 15 dollars. Check it out! Would definitely recommend it for college students
Ma Fischer's (Farwell Ave, Milwaukee)
This place is a favorite spot for college students. They're usually getting groups to go together around 1 or 2 in the morning. It's a great place for breakfast, I've never tried anything else. The pancakes were great, we got chocolate chip & blueberry. They messed up our order by giving each of us one of the others pancakes. But overall, it was pretty good. The prices were higher than what I am used to paying for breakfast, but it's not too bad. I would recommend it, but especially if you are drunk & nothing else is open!
Cafe Hollander
This is seriously the best restaurant in Milwaukee. I have been many times and will continue to come back. The service is great and the beer menu is one of the best around. I really love the atmosphere, too. But the best part about this place is the food! I've tried so many things. I would definitely have to say the best appetizer are the Belgian Burger Bebes. They are the cutest little sliders & have SO much flavor! My favorite sandwich so far has been the BLT. They've just really perfected it. I get it every time now. My favorite entree though is the rosemary goat cheese mac n cheese. Other things that we loved were the margherita flatbread, diablo dip, avacado chicken wrap, blackberry turkey, Trocadero Brie, tomato & basil, and the cafe burger. I couldn't think of anywhere else I would love to go more! I could eat lunch here every day.
SoLo Pizza
My best friend and I tried this place last Saturday night. I'm new to the neighborhood and wanted to try some of the places that looked cool. I think the name is kind of stupid because sure, it's "south of Locust" but only by about a couple feet...clever. But The food was great. We decided to share a margherita pizza, the "mezzo" size. It was the perfect size to share. The woodfired crust is amazing! It's so crispy and delicious. Also, the toppings were fresh and really flavorful. I especially liked that our total was about $12. You can't beat that. We got our fill, too. The medium is a perfect size to share, it's about the size of a frozen pizza. Although we didn't order anything, but the wine list is extensive and refined. I appreciated the atmosphere, and the staff was friendly, although it took a couple minutes for us to be seated even though there wasn't a line of people. I would definitely recommend it, especially for saving money on a date!
Evolution Ink & Piercing
This is where I got both my first facial piercing & my first tattoo. The owner, Lucas Pawlik, did my nose piercing. Not having had one before, I don't really have a lot to go on here. However, he was very knowledgable & I have received great customer service since I got it. On the other hand, I have been having some issues with it sometimes falling in a little too far & a lot of swelling! The swelling has gone down and now, I can't imagine my face without this piercing :)
My first tattoo was done by one of the artists, Aaron. He is just great. His creative/free hand work is simply amazing. My tattoo was small & because it was only words, he didn't have a lot to go on, but he did make my tattoo experience a great one. He was very nice & helpful. The tattoo looks great! It's not totally healed but I hope it will be soon. Its been about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. Here is a picture.
